SWAZI KING SPENDING SPREE

MBABANE – At least 20 posh BMW 750i sedans, to be used to transport VIPs during the 40/40 celebrations, arrived in the country on Tuesday night.

Each of these vehicles is worth more than E916 000.

This means that for 20 vehicles, government could have parted with at least E22 million (nearly 4 million US dollars).

The vehicles arrived through the Ngwenya Border post, aboard three trucks.

It has been established that the cars will be sold soon after the 40/40 celebration, to be held on September 6, 2008.

  1. And today it looks like 50 more cars are coming - oh but these are only to be rented.

Seems the BMW dealer Carlos Paiva will score big on this deal while the 'subjects' of the king can arrive by foot...but maybe wearing shoes if they are the lucky ones!

And all the guests can say "Isn't that quaint to see 19th century still alive in Swaziland" as they wave bye-bye from the luxury cars.
