SWAZILAND BLOGOSPHERE LAUNCHES

One of the most interesting aspects of the present student unrest in Swaziland is the way that participants are bypassing the traditional media and are getting their information out via the Internet.

The Swaziland National Union of Students, for example, has set up its own blogsite to put its side of the story in their fight against the Swazi Government and King Mswati III, sub-Saharan Africa’s last absolute monarch.

The students’ cause has been taken up on Internet sites across the world, including the Google Forum of the Swaziland Solidarity Network (SSN) and the SSN Facebook site.

There are an increasing number of blogsites and other Internet sites championing the cause of civil liberties and human rights in Swaziland.

For most of us it is difficult to keep up with them all. To make it easier to keep in touch a new blogsite called The Swaziland Blogosphere has launched.

According to the site, ‘The Swaziland Blogosphere, can at best be said to be a ‘parent’ of the other blogs, it is a blog designed to link up with other blogs. It will also update and give information about other blogs which aim at empowering the people of Swaziland so that they can realize their full socio-economic and political potential.’

You can check it out here.
