This is the list of demands that protestors delivered to Barnabas Dlamini, the illegally-appointed Prime Minister of Swaziland, after their mass march yesterday (28 March 2011).

Petition to PM:

We workers of Swaziland, SFTU, SNAT and SFL in consultations with members of civil society have observed the continued failure of yourself and your cabinet to meet our demands on the following:

1. Withdrawal of Circular No.1 of 2010 [This gives the PM, ministers and MPs huge financial benefits when they leave office at the next election in 2013]

2. Provision of drugs in hospitals and clinics

3. Tender Board restructuring

4. Taxation - improvements on the non-taxation of terminal benefits

5. Additional judge in the Industrial Court

6. Failure to bring Tibiyo taka Ngwane and Tisuka taka Ngwane within the government sources of income. [These are conglomerates held ‘in trust’ for the nation by King Mswati III, sub-Saharan Africa’s last absolute monarch. He, in practice, keeps the profits generated by the companies for himself.]

We have further noted with concern that due to the above failure the following situation present in the country includes the following:

I E80 million per month disappearing.

II. An imminent cut of public servants salaries.

III. The country, according to IMF is indebted to about E900 million.

IV. Poverty levels have risen to about 69%.

We, therefore, have a summary demand that you and your cabinet vacate office immediately for the survival of the country and its citizens.
