‘OBSERVER’ NOT FIRST WITH THE NEWS

Nobody could accuse the Swazi Observer newspaper of being ‘first with the news’.

The newspaper, in effect owned by King Mswati III, sub-Saharan Africa’s last absolute monarch, runs a number of reports today (7 July 2011) about the World Bank report called The Educational System in Swaziland.

The Observer gives details that children from rural areas in Swaziland have less access to education than their counterparts in towns. It also notes that young people from families that have high incomes are more likely to go to university.

All perfectly true: as it was in May 2010 when the report was published.
