SWAZI CJ ALLEGATIONS – DETAILS

Swaziland’s Weekend Observer newspaper has published details of the complaints tabled against Michael Ramodibedi, the kingdom’s Chief Justice.

Unfortunately, the newspaper in effect owned by King Mswati III, sub-Saharan Africa’s last absolute monarch, has once again engaged in self-censorship and has kept some of the details of the complaints from its readers.

The newspaper says some allegations ‘cannot be printed because of their inflammable nature’.

The Observer does however reproduce most of a letter delivered by Swazi lawyers to the Judicial Service Commission.

The letter details a number of complaints against Ramodibedi, which include allegations of sexual harassment, abuse of financial resources and concerns over the way he organises the judicial system in Swaziland.
