MBABANE TENSE AS BUSES STAND STILL

Reports in Swaziland are that bus operators are facing up to police in both Mbabane and Manzini today (20 September 2011).

An unconfirmed report is that the police station commander in Mbabane was beaten by protestors. Leaders of the bus operators are trying to calm the situation in fear of police retaliation.

No transport is moving out of the Mbabane bus rank.

In Manzini there is a stand-off between bus operators and police for the second day running at the city’s main bus rank. Transport operators are dropping people off at the edge of the city and not coming into the centre.

  1. Can we get pictures of these events to show the world the severity of the situation in our country?
