SWAZILAND GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION

The Swaziland Democracy Campaign (SDC) is getting ready for its global day of action to draw attention to the human rights abuses in the kingdom ruled by King Mswati III, sub-Saharan Africa’s last absolute monarch.

SDC has announced it will, in collaboration with its South African counterparts (SDC-SA), labour and civil society partners, be rolling out mass protest activities and intensify civil disobedience that will culminate in the global week of protest slated around the Swazi Independence Day on 6 September 2010.

SDC is publicising its activities that will run from 6 – 8 September and is calling for wide participation in three forms of action:

· Joining the main Global March taking place inside Swaziland (exact place to be announced by SDC Swaziland Chapter);

· Organizing a march to the Swazi embassy or consulate in our various countries or where no such embassy exists, to government offices to raise the demands of the Swazi people;

· Sending messages of solidarity and demand to the Prime Minister’s offices in Swaziland and copying to the SDC.

The SDC has set up a Google group and two Facebook sites to keep people informed of what is going on.

1. SDC mailing list

2. SDC Facebook group

3. Global Day of Action on Swaziland Facebook page

SDC is encouraging people to join these platforms to receive important updates on activities.
