PRAYER FOR MAXWELL AND MUSA

A prayer is being held tomorrow (Thursday 19 May 2011) for the two democracy activists arrested and remanded in jail during the April protests in Swaziland.

Maxwell Dlamini, president of the Swaziland National Union of Students, and Musa Ngubeni, an activist in the Swaziland Youth Congress (SWAYOCO), have been in police custody since their arrest on charges of contravening the Explosives Act. They are due to reappear in court for a bail hearing on Friday.

The Swaziland Democracy Campaign (SDC), which is organising the prayer, said, ‘We regard Max and Musa as political prisoners and duly demand their immediate unconditional release.’

The prayer is at Caritas, Manzini, from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

SDC said, ‘We urge all to attend the prayer clad in red in solidarity with our comrades.’
