More than
four in ten Swazi youth are unemployed, new figures show.
That
makes 280,000, or 42.6 percent, of the 668,000 people who are aged between 18
and 24.
The
statistics also show that 756,000 out of 1.2 million Swazis currently live
below the international poverty line of US$1 or E13 a day.
The
figures were contained in a report released by the Swaziland Ministry of Sports,
Culture and youth affairs. Excerpts of the report were given at a workshop at
Pigg’s Peak Hotel on Monday (24 October 2016).
