MORE TO READ AT MISA SWAZILAND

Swaziland’s chapter of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) has updated its website with a heap of new information on it – especially on the Media Watch page.

Among the items are two of my research articles on media in Swaziland (never before available on-line). One is about how newspapers (the Times, Times Sunday, Observer, Swazi News and Weekend Observer) report on children. It concludes a lot more work needs to be done by journalists before they can claim to be reporting ethically.

The second article explores how the same newspapers cover Muslims in the kingdom. It takes as its starting point the Swazi News article that referred to a group of visiting Muslims in Mbabane as cannibals.

MISA promises to regularly update Media Watch – so bookmark this page. http://www.sz.misa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=93&Itemid=74
