S.Africa denies Swaziland bailout reports
JOHANNESBURG, June 28 (Reuters) - South Africa denied reports on Tuesday that it had approved a $1.2 billion bailout loan for neighbouring Swaziland, Africa's last absolute monarchy which is in the middle of an acute funding crisis.
"While the South African government is in receipt of a loan request from Swaziland, as confirmed last week, no loan has been agreed to or granted to Swaziland," the Treasury said in a statement, denying Swazi dissident reports the bailout had been approved.
