YCLSA FULLY SUPPORTS PEOPLE OF SWAZILAND
18 March 2011
The Young Communist League of South Africa (uFasimba) is fully behind the people of Swaziland in their struggle against the undemocratic and dictatorial rule under King Msawti lll. The revolutionary leadership of the Swaziland United Democratic Front (SUDF) has organised all progressive formations to march today against the current government which has not served the people of Swaziland.
The King has a perverse appetite not only for young vulnerable women but for wealth created by workers of Swaziland. He unashamedly displays opulence as the people of Swaziland wither away in abject poverty. We should hang our heads in shame as South Africa that our brothers and sisters in Swaziland, continue to be subjected to such injustices, whilst we enjoy the fruits of democracy. HIV/Aids continues to ravage the Swazi people thanks to the ignorance demonstrated by the current regime on the subject.
The Swaziland Solidarity Network Forum has been consistent in its call for radical change and democracy, today as the YCLSA we will join SSN as they picket at the Swazi Consulate in Braamfontein today at 12H00. The National Secretary of the YCLSA , Buti Manamela addressed comrades of Swaziland in the previous picket, sending a strong message to Swaziland that we remain firm and undeterred in our call for a regime change.
As the YCLSA we believe that the silence from the South African Government only deepens the crisis in Swaziland and this will ultimately have a severe impact here at home. We can’t be seen as champions of Democracy offshore whilst our own people remain chained to a Monarchy which has no regard for human rights, dignity and democracy.
We urge all members of the YCLSA and fellow South Africans to join SSN at the Swazi Consulate today in solidarity and fight this injustice in Swaziland.
