CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE COME TO THIS YOUNG WOMAN'S RESCUE

Inkhosikati laDube, the twelfth wife to King Mswati III, has opened up to the South African Mail and Guardian newspaper about the cruel and atrocious conditions she is being subjected to by the Swazi royal household and her forced husband King Mswati III.

The king's wife was reportedly caught in bed last year [2010] with one of the king's closest friends, Ndumiso Mamba. According to her, the king has been avoiding her ever since. What causes her further distress is that she is no longer allowed to leave her household by the royal security guards, something that has left her emotionally drained.

She further pleaded with the South African government to intervene on her behalf and tell the king to let her leave the royal family with her three children, as clearly she is no longer wanted there.

In a normal country the king would have long been charged for statutory rape, as he married her at the tender age of sixteen. Keeping her against her will is another criminal offence. With the Chief Justice refusing to allow cases against the king to be brought forward and the king's "above the law" status, Swaziland's courts cannot deal with this matter legally, hence her plea, as a South African citizen, for the South African government to intervene on her behalf.

The Swaziland Solidarity Network supports this young woman's plea for justice and strongly condemns the Swazi royal family for this inhumane behaviour. Like all Swazis, La Dube and her children deserves better than an abusive relationship with the King and the royal house keepers.

The king is well known for ill treating his traditionally forced wives, two of them managed to flee already. This is also a lesson to all parents of young Swazi girls who are forced to this tradition, that the King only abuses them and throw opulence lifestyle to blind them. They should defy this abusive system.
