SSN STATEMENT ON THE ARREST OF OUR SWAZILAND COMRADES BY KING MSWATI

11th April, 2011

As predicted way before the April 12 uprising was even made public, the Swazi Government has responded to the mass planned mass protest by arresting four leaders of the progressive formations.

The leaders under arrest are:

1. Maxwell Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students (SNUS).

2. Simanga Ginindza, the Deputy Secretary of the Swaziland United Democratic Front (SUDF) SWAYOCO members.

3. Themba Mabuza, the SUDF National Organizing Secretary and former National Organising Secretary of the Swaziland Youth Congress (SWAYOCO).

4. Sifiso Mabuza, the Deputy President of SWAYOCO.

They were arrested yesterday at Sidvwashini, at a Roadblock, while they were from Witbank in South Africa. They had gone there to attend a meeting on preparations for the planned mass protests. At the time of the release of this statement no one knew of their whereabouts.

They have not been charged with anything and their arrest is a well know tactic by the regime to try and sabotage the mass protests.

The SSN condemns this very unnecessary arrest of innocent citizens. Swazis are urged to continue with their task and keep the eye on the ball regardless of who gets arrested next. These arrests are meant to be distractions. Everything continues tomorrow as planned. Forward to the Uprising!!!
