Swaziland King, Mswati III and his family are carrying on regardless, seemingly oblivious to the plight of their people.
This is one of the conclusions in a TV report from the international news agency Agency France-Press (AFP). It reports that the 40/40 celebrations held this weekend (6 September 2008) cost the equivalent of 60 per cent of Swaziland’s health budget. It concludes ‘many Swazis say the money could have been better spent in a country where 600,000 people live below the poverty line and over 40 percent either have HIV or AIDS’.
