SABC International, the television channel formerly known as SABC Africa, is showing a programme this coming Thursday (18 September 2008) about the Swaziland election.
It has been prompted by a decision by the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COASTU ) www.cosatu.org.za to stage a border blockage between Swaziland and South Africa on that day.
The programme is expected to take the form of a panel debate. Panellists are not yet confirmed but those being considered include, SUDF – Chairperson or Secretary General, Barnes Dlamini or Vincent Ncongwane; COSATU International Secretary, Bongani Masuku; an academic, probably Professor John Daniels, who was excommunicated by the Swazi regime as University of Swaziland lecturer for his African National Congress-linked activities in Swaziland and has written extensively on Swaziland; and a Swazi government spokesperson, Percy Simelane or High Commissioner.
The programme is expected to be aired at 20:00hr local time.
It will also be on SABC 2 at 04h30 the following day.
