KING ‘MEETS SOUTH AFRICA PRESIDENT’

The Swaziland Democracy Campaign (SDC) has reported that King Mswati III of Swaziland is currently in South Africa to consult with President Jacob Zuma.

In a statement today (18 May 2011) it said, ‘In the light of the rapidly worsening human rights record of King Mswati’s Tinkhundla dictatorial regime as recently widely reported inside Swaziland, in South Africa, and on the Internet, the SDC exhorts President Zuma to:

‘1. Unequivocally tell Mswati that there is no more time to waste, that the country is visibly on fire, and that the Tinkhundla regime has become a liability to the rest of the SADC sub-region and the continent, and that Mswati must now abolish the system as a matter of extreme urgency

‘2. Impress on Mswati that his undemocratic Tinkhundla regime is a contagious and destructive virus against human progress that can no longer be tolerated and which now warrants universal isolation.’
